The FRMS national committee has produced a Safeguarding Statement, something that is a legal requirement. We have worked with a company called SAFEcic to produce this statement. SAFEcic is an organisation that specialises in offering a range of organisations advice on their own safeguarding arrangements.

You will note from this document that it is also a legal requirement for all affiliate societies to have their own safeguarding arrangements in place. Most of them will be covered by their venue, particularly if the venue is managed by a church or community organisation. It is worth checking this with the venue and making sure that you are aware of the contents of their safeguarding policy. It may well have been issued to you when you started using the venue.
If your venue does not have a safeguarding policy (which would be unusual), we have produced a template for a safeguarding policy that can be adapted. We have put this together from various sources including templates provided by the Charity Commission, the Church of England and the U3A.
